Day 56 Mission22

Busy day doing laundry, making docking lines, re rigging the ratchet straps to the kayak.

Sending out press releases, transferring equipment from one support vehicle to another.

Will launching from Brant Rock Marshfield, MA to Plymouth Rock for a few hours of raising awareness then on to Scusset Beach for a night of camping.

Then at 10 AM I will portage the canal to the railroad bridge.

Day55 Mission22

After spending the night in a hotel in Scituate, I launched in the harbor and set out for Plymouth.

When I exited the harbor it 2-3 foot chop with a southwest wind between 7-9 mph.

Cutting the right angle it was slow going but steady progress.

I made Brant Rock in Marshfield in 2.5 hours. I pulled into a safe place on the beach. I had lunch. Talked to a few people on the beach about Mission22.

I set off again for Plymouth. After a short distance of very slow to no progress the larger chop and increased winds I decided to turn around and head back to Brant Rock.

Called my support team for a pick up.

The weather for Tuesday doesn’t look any better. Will try Wednesday early morning.

Plan is to go to Plymouth for a couple of hours talking about Mission22 in the area of the Mayflower and the Rock.

I will proceed to Scusset Beach where I will take out to portage along the canal. May stay at the state campground there over night.

Day 54 Mission22

ONE MAN ONE MISSION TO SAVE THOUSANDS.

DONATE!

Well today was supposed to be kayak Boston Harbor Islands then head to Scituate. Well we arrived at launch site to find choppy seas high winds and boaters who have no idea what the rules are much less how to trim the boat.

Far to dangerous for me in a kayak to go out.

UPDATE:

I have just sent a request for information about taking the Cape May – Lewes Ferry service across the Deleware River. I will update when I hear back from them.

UPDATE 2

I received an email from the ferry service and it will cost me $28 for me and the yak to ride the ferry.
It will be interesting since i have to stand in the car line to get the yak on board.

This alliviates some of the stress i was having about crosding the Deleware River safely.

Day 52 Mission22

Sent a request to NRS to see if they would donate 2 pairs of gloves. The gloves are suppose to prevent blisters so it would help me tremendously.  I am thinking 2 pairs should last the rest of the trip.

I offered to pay shipping via USPS as I do not trust FEDEX or UPS for overnight shipping.

Waiting to hear back.

To help spread the word a friend and I are  doing the Onset kayak poker run tomorrow. If I win a money prize I will donate it to Mission22.ity

Expect to be back in Boston Harbor Sunday stopping at the islands to raise awareness. Then heading to Scituate to raise awareness and spend the night. Then on to Plymouth then Scusset.

Just got off the phone with NRS they are shipping out 2 pairs of gloves today USPS priority mail.

Day 50 Mission22

One man one mission to save thousands

Please share and donate. Thank you.

Treating the sunburn I got yesterday and giving hands a rest. I have to coordinate my schedule with my support team here in Massachusetts.

I am planning on visiting the Boston Harbor islands to raise awareness.

Then it looks like I head to Scituate for one night then on the Plymouth then Scusset beach to portage the canal.

Day 49 Mission22

Launched on incoming tide and headed out around Marblehead and down the coast.
Stopped in Nahant for a rest and talked with people on the beach.
Made it to the other side of Nahant when a huge storm was over Somerville. I beached the kayak to wait it out as there was lightening associated with the storm.
When the storm moved off and theed wind died down i headed for Winthrop.
At Winthrop i stopped and rigged lights for night running as i wanted to make Castle Island to be picked up as there was no place to camp.
Also i wanted to be on the other side of the harbor before the tall ship parade of sails.

Well made it to Winter Park island in Salem last night. The app Reservation America wouldn’t let me log in as it keeps scrambling my email address when you hit the go button. The mosquitoes are thick and hungry here so setting up camp in the dark while being eaten alive wasn’t fun.

I am heading for Boston Harbor today and going to try to camp on Peddocks island if the stupid app will let me reserve a spot.

Time to cook breakfast and pack up the yak. I have to see if they are going to charge me the $5 fee to use the ramp.
