Stayed in SurfCoaster hotel last nite.
Launched from Uri’s restaurant parking lot where i took out from.
Finally got to the ferry. The ferry company treated me very well saving me lots of money.
Arrived in Deleware just after 6 pm.
Cape Henlopen State Park is a mile away. Got a water and electric site for 2 nights.
Stayed in an unusual place last night. The hotel is called Coast hotel adult only. It is attached to a pizza joint a liquor store and a club called Lacosta. You can find this place in Sea Isle Cith, NJ.
On the way to the boat ramp this morning I stopped at the visitor center. I was given a pamphlet telling me where i could get veteran discounts and a veterans beach tag. I was also interviewed and pictures taken for the local paper. I might get a pr job when i am done.

The women of Sea Isle City visitor center.
I arrived at the ramp to see a 4-5 knot current ripping by the ramp from the bridge with lots of eddies. Well hurry and wait as we say.

I am heading to Cape May to catch the ferry but first i have to stop at West Marine for a new vhf radio as mine won’t take a charge. The radio is an essential piece of safety gear.
Ran into issues trying to get to Wildwood. Tide changed wind picked up chop built to 3 to 4 ft. Then i make it to a bridge to find 7 knot current with eddies, not worth risking safety. I waited awhile then portaged yak across the road and kept going.
Ended up stopping at Wildwood for dinner and hotel.
Dave and I went to warehouse to pick up kayak and put it on the trailer. Not bad for 2 old men to lift that loaded kayak onto the rack.
Went to launch site. I talked for awhile to the attendant. Great way to get information. Talked with my gf to go over days plans for each of us.
Started heading to Cape May. I had paddled for a few hours and needed a break. I found a small beach next to a state boat ramp. Talked with the attendants for awhile and a group on bicycles. A few pictures taken of me and kayak.
Launched and headed for a place to eat. Right after the bridge there was an inn and a shack with tables and unbrellas on the beach. Good stop. Staff was interested in the mission and bought my lunch. I gave them all bracelets and gave a few stickers. The bartender put a sticker in the beer cooler so everyone could see.
I talked to a few customers one who gave me cash donation.
I was asked about the guy rowing the atlantic whose boat washed ashore. I was told he was at the bar the day before.
As i paddled down the bay in a remote area I spot his boat then I spot Duncan Hutchinson so I hailed him and pulled into a slip. We exchanged missions and talked about issues. I gave him a Mission22 bracelet.
I wish him the best of luck as he is as dedicated and determined as I to his cause.
The weather is turning for the worse. Stopped at Sea Isle City for the night.

Duncan Hutchinson
Agmes made me breakfast then Bart drove me to dog beach for the launch.
Just as we were taking my yak off the roof Dave showed up with his crew.
As soon as i could pack my yak and get it to the water we could launch.
It was a nice paddle to the boat ramp at Tennessee ave.
I will have more pictures when i can get them.
The fundraiser went well Steve, his wife and son and I raised awareness. We raised some money.
While trying to hang my banner I fell to the sidewalk scraped my elbow and bruised my thigh.

Staying the night with Dave and launching in the morning for Cape May.

Steve made me bacon eggs n toast breakfast and gave me 2 bananas for the trip. Said my goodbyes to Lisa and Steve drove me to the Cove.
Sunshine light wind and slow tide. I packed the kayak and set off across thr inlet for Atlantic city coastline. It was a good paddle until the wind picked up and the tide changcityed. O was also navigating through or around those damn marshes.
I made it to the meeting point and will try to stealth camp here and meet the other kayakers tomorrow. Looking forward to tomorrow.
Well goid fortune struck again. Bart and Agnes were fishing on the beach and we struck up a conversation. Bart asked me to come stay at their place tonight and he will drive me back in the morning to meet Dave’s kayak group.

Launched from boat ramp looking for a leisure paddle to the cove. Then came the marsh I really hate that stuff. I thought I found a channel through. The channel narrowed and the water got low so it was get out and pull. Get stuck in the mud. I had to dig out one of my boots as the mud would not let go. I finally had enough and pulled the kayak on top of marsh and pulled it to open water. Both the kayak and i were covered in mud. Washed it the best i could.
Got to cove put the yak on dolly and was looking to camp there. I was talking to various people about Mission22. I met Steve and Lisa and they invited me to spend the night at there house.

Woke up to a chill breeze coming through the windows. Went baclol to sleep. Woke again later to a little warmer air. Checked marine forecast for the next few days, seas and winds are okay for travel but they are talking rain and possible tstorms end of week. I hope it doesn’t put a damper on the event Saturday.
Don took me out for breakfast then we drove to the cove where i will stay 1 night before moving to inlet for Saturday morning. Don didn’t have a permit so the police asked us to leave. I explained what i was doing and why we were there and he was very helpful and still said we had to leave. I thanked him and shook his hand and we left.
We stopped at CVS so that I could buy some Neosporin and some cream for the little bumps that showed up on my little finger last night. Where I came in contact with poison oak or summac I have no idea, but I now have a cream for it.
catching up on my blogs here and will enjoy the sunshine.
I would love to thank my host for the 2 days they let me stay with them Kyle and Don.

Kyle was being camera shy.
Left hotel went back to boat ramp. Met a few people on the way and talked about trip and Mission22. Received a $40 donation from one gentleman which i will put into funds at fundraiser Saturday.
Wind was blowing about 20 25 mph with gust over 30 mph at ramp. Sat there most of the day waiting to see if wind would die down. I met Don who had been out fishing most of the day and somehow got a fishhook in his big toe. We got to talking and he invited me to his house 2 blocks away. The original plans were i camp in the yard but their plans changed and I slept inside. We had fresh flounder Don caught that day. Great conversations.
I am always grateful for friendly people willing to help out.
Oh! while sitting on a bench waiting for the wind to die down this guys comes by me at a brisk pace falls off the end. When I got u a moment later to check on him I daw him heading down the boat ram into the water.
I saw him stick his head out of the water later then submerge.

Packed up checked out went to marina.
Amazing how marine report can change so quickly. I have to wait for wind to diminish. 33 mph is a bit too much. the seas have been calming down since I arrived. The tide is in my favor. Need to make Brigintine today.
I would like to say hello to people I met today Eric and Sue and Rita.
I called Dave and the event is shaping up. Dave and some others are going to meet me at the inlet between 7 and 8 AM Saturday morning for the paddle in. Then we will load my yak on one of his trucks to have in front of store for fundraiser. He isn’t sure but the mayor may come by to see me. I haven’t heard from the media.
